Sometimes, it can seem as though new technology comes out every day. While some coding or devices are pretty useless, many innovations genuinely make life easier and better. Take dental visits—nowadays, seeing the dentist can prove to be a positive experience. In this post, learn what dental technology can make your time in the chair better and about a couple of new innovations you should know about.

How Technology Makes Dentistry Better

Just as technology has improved life in countless other areas, it makes a huge difference in your dental appointments. For instance, digital X-rays are available for review right away and expose you to very little radiation. Also, intraoral cameras allow the dentist to show you what they see in your mouth, so gone are the days when you had to trust only their word!

Another prime example of helpful technology is digital impressions. Instead of goopy, messy impressions that can trigger gagging, a digital scanner easily and comfortably fits within your mouth, taking measurements and creating a 3D model. This method of taking impressions tends to be much more accurate and provides a much more enjoyable experience while at the dentist’s office.

Technology Your Dentist Should Have

In addition to digital X-rays, intraoral cameras, and digital impressions systems, there are cutting-edge devices and technologies that your dentist should be aware of and use in their practice. Here are just a couple examples:

Gemini EVO™ Laser

Lasers have been used in dentistry for a while now, predominantly for gum treatments. Whether you have teeth that look small or have a gum infection, this type of laser can sever this tissue without having sutures afterward. Plus, it involves very little pain or bleeding, which makes the whole experience much smoother for the patient. The Gemini EVO™ Laser specifically can also be used to treat canker sores and even relieve TMJ pain almost instantly!

Dental Vibe

When you have your teeth worked on, local anesthetic keeps you from feeling substantial discomfort, but you may find getting that “shot” or “pinch” unpleasant. Dental Vibe is a device that takes advantage of the body’s nervous system to your benefit. By delivering gentle vibrations to the area, this device disguises the injection, which means you don’t feel it at all.

Although there are other devices and technologies out there, your dentist should be utilizing the best to improve your treatment. Through state-of-the-art technology, you can look forward to having your teeth and gums perfected and leaving the office with a smile on your face!
